Here's my card class using May's fun kit. It's an all-occasion card. You can use it for birthdays (hoppy bird-day?), bon voyage (taking flight?) and even Christmas (pretend that's a dove).
Supplies you'll need:
(everything's from the kit unless otherwise stated)
White cardstock 6"x12"
4 sheets of lilybee patterned paper
buttons
Maya Road chipboard bird (May add-on)
lace and ribbon (own stash)
Here we go!
1. Score the white cs at 4" from the left and 2 1/4" from the right. Fold. You now have a tri-fold card.
2. Select 2 sheets of pp, cutting one to slightly smaller than 4x6" and the other slightly smaller than 2 1/4 x 6". I used Three Little Birds and So Sweet papers.
3. Ink the edges of the pp if desired. Attach to the two folded flaps of the white cardstock.
4. Cut 2 feet of brown satin ribbon. Attach it to the back of the card and round to the front as shown.
5. Select two pp. Trace and cut out the chipboard bird shapes and cover the body and wing of your bird. I chose Faded Jeans and Just Relax.
6. Embellish your bird as desired. I edged my wing with lace then generously outlined it with Rangers Stickles. I also stickled the edge of the bird's body. Finally a little blue gem was used for the eye. There are so many ways to decorate the bird. Just let your imagination take flight (pun intended. )
7. Attach the bird to the larger left flap as shown. Be careful not to glue the bird to the right flap as we want to be able to open the card. And oh yes, you might want to cover or colour the back of the bird if you don't like the raw chipboard showing through the back. I painted mine blue.
8. Add some buttons along the left.
9. Finally, tie the ribbon ends together to hold the card shut.
